River Pollution by Heavy Metal Waste

Rivers that become the pulse of life as a source for clean water needs of today's drastic decline in quality from upstream to downstream. The quality of the river decreased mainly by waste pollution is difficult to untangle. This can have a profound effect, for example, can poison drinking water sources, human poisoning, and the imbalance in the ecosystem of rivers and lakes.

The impact of heavy metal waste pollution in the river is very dangerous because it can not be destroyed and cause health effects is very dangerous to society. Heavy metals mercury waste is very toxic to life and disasters due to mercury pollution by the industry have occurred in Japan's Minamata Bay took hundreds of deaths and thousands of dead babies being born handicapped. The process of water treatment with alum is usually not able to remove heavy metals dissolved in water, so the content of mercury in the waters of fear it would contaminate the water taps citizens consumed. Heavy metals will contaminate fisheries and endanger public health is to eat fish.

Nervous and digestive systems are still in the stage of child development, and thus more vulnerable to lead absorbed. Lead can not be broken down biologically and toxicity did not change over time. Lead is inhaled or ingested will follow the flow of circulating blood, reabsorbed in the kidneys and brain, and stored in the bones and teeth.
